Chet Prokan Album Release from Javelin Records

I got the Javelin Records' debut Album CD for almost 2 months but I haven't listened yet! No, I meant I've already listented sometimes when my colleagues took it from me and played it.

Just today I found it in my desk case and gonna bring it home to listen tonight.

Thank Mr. Veasna for sending me a copy. I really appreciate it.

I really appreciate their work.

You can visit their homepages on http://www.javelinrecords.com/

Here's the my interview scripts with Mr. Kung Veasna in english.
05/Mar/08

- What have inspired you to start the label?
Our inspiration is simply derived from our undying passion and love for good music.

- When and how did Javelin Record first start?
Javelin Records in its humble beginning was first established in a room in a basement by two individuals who share a passion for music and now three years later has emerged into a full pledge studio that is recognized by all citizens within the city of Lowell.

- How many members?
Javelin Records currently consist of but not limited to nine staff members and five artists, we are always looking to expand and recruit new talents.

- What is the significance of Javelin Record’s name? How did you get that name?
Well first off for those of us whom aren't aware of what a javelin is, please allow me to explain. A Javelin is a spear like object that is made up of either a metal or fiberglass material used in a track and field type event; it is used in a Javelin Throw competition. A competition measures the distance of an athlete's ability to throw the object as far as he or she can.
Translated to music, Javelin Records provides opportunities for any aspiring singer, songwriter, producers etc... Etc... A chance is heard by the general public. Although we provide you with all the tools and training necessary to be in the public eye, how far you throw the object is entirely up to you.

- How would you describe your Record Company?
We are a very open minded record label, hence our slogan “Music without boundaries ". Simply put we are open to any suggestions from our friends and fans just as long as it is positive and sounds good. Any language and style of genre is welcome, we do everything from country to hip-hop. Here at Javelin we believe that music is universal, we are confident that we have a little bit of something for everybody regardless of age or musical preferences. And also we are primarily a family oriented company; suffice to say that a majority of our music is suitable for any age group.

- What is Javelin Record mission?
Our mission is simply to provide the Cambodian public as well as our Americans audience with the best in quality entertainment.

- Could you tell us some information about your artists?
Well, here is a very brief overlay of our featured artists, for more information please check out our website javelinrecords.com

Khmer Thug
An up and coming Khmer rapper/songwriter whose personal experiences are reflected in his lyrics. Currently he has two albums released, the debut album “Confessions” and the sophomore album “The biggest mistake”.
San Pisith
An emerging star in the Khmer rock frontier, Sith will eventually be the bridge between Khmer and English influences. Sith is a featured artist on Javelin’s upcoming compilation album.
Ven Chan Sreymuch
With her unique singing voice, Much is a new artist with songs touching on the subjects that everyone else was afraid to even consider. She is also featured on the highly anticipated compilation album by Javelin.
Ven Chan Sayla
Citing traditional music as his influence, Sayla plans to take the charm of the old school, combine it with some new class beats, and become the best singer he can be. He is also on the compilation album.
Morn Sovanthida
A former member of the group “4 Strong”, Thida is the newest artist under Javelin. It’ll be interesting to see where Javelin will take her, since this is her first time working with the U.S.

- Are you currently working on any exciting projects?

Aside from preparing for our official launch and first debut compilation album in the next coming weeks, we were fortunate enough to work on a song for the soundtrack for a very talented Cambodian movie director by the name of Tim Pek for his new upcoming movie titled Annoyed (Rou Chance)
http://annoyedmovie.com/ or http://youtube.com/watch?v=TS2vvWoZYc4 to see the trailer. Look forward to seeing this out soon.

- When is your first single released? What is your new release name?
We will be releasing our first full length compilation CD in USA by April. The CD is named “Chet Prokhan.”

- If there were some albums copies with no copyright in market, what would you do?
If that were to occur, we will allow our legal team to assess the damage in the matter and deal with the situation accordingly by U.S and International Copyrights law. We do not wish nor look forward to disputing with any other record companies or entertainment entities, but if deemed necessary legal actions will be taken.

- Do you intend to make your Javelin Record become a well-known record company in Cambodia?
We can only hope that the Cambodian public in Cambodia will be as kind and supportive as our audience and friends in America. We welcome the opportunity to compete and entertain alongside all other great companies before us.

- When will Javelin Record be on tour to Cambodia? How do you feel about that?
We would love the opportunity to be able to someday tour in the great country of Cambodia, but as of right now our main focus is making a name for ourselves here in the United States and in Canada.

- What more should we expect from Javelin Record in the near future?
New music, new videos, new singers, we hope to be able to bring something new and fresh for the Cambodian people to enjoy and be proud of. Not only are we working on modern and traditional Khmer music right now, we are also in the process of putting together English and English/Khmer mix CDs and songs for your upcoming viewing and listening pleasure.

- Any last words for ours listener?
Yes, thank you all and especially to all our special friends and fans for taking your time and interest in our new and humble company, we only hope that you will continue to support us in our quest for making entertaining and enjoyable original feel good music that you can be proud of. We hope to be able to elevate the status of not just Khmer but all Asian American music to a higher status that will be accepted by international (American) standard regardless of neither language nor genre.

Thank for your time!
Thank you for having us!
